I redesigned the concept album Danger Days: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys by My Chemical Romance (R.I.P.). I chose to redesign that album mostly because of the direction the band took musically. With the project, I designed a 12” album cover, sleeve, and sticker; a CD cover, back, inside, poster, and sticker; and a digital icon to accompany the album for iTunes.
For those who do not know, this album is about a fictional story concerning the lives of a renegade group, the Killjoys, in a post-apocalyptic-esque California in the year 2019. The Killjoys, played by the four band members, are fighting an evil corporation, Better Living Industries (BL/ind.). Because of this constant battle between good and evil, I chose to do this project in that manner. The album and its parts reflected the journey of the Killjoys, filled with color and warmth. Adversely, the CD and its components demonstrated the Better Living Industries, becoming black and white and mimicking the company’s constant watch over the outlaws.

This is probably my most favorite project I have done so far. Being able to use the Killjoys album (which I highly recommend listening to) as my muse was a great journey. I learned more about the band and its music than I had previously known. Also being able to use multiple applications/media and completing the entire project from start to finish on my own made everything highly worthwhile. I finished the design happy and fulfilled, wanting only to do it again.
