Hello! I’m Emma, a senior journalism student at Denison University. While taking a data analytics class during my freshman year of college, I found myself much more interested in the people behind the numbers and decided that I belong in the news room rather than the computer lab.
People-forward stories continue to drive my approach to journalism. It is a privilege to spend my days meeting new people, exploring my hometowns, and crafting the perfect paragraph. In turn, I believe it is my job as a journalist to ensure that the stories I tell are authentic to the people and communities they belong to, and that all stories have the chance to be told.
I have covered a broad range of topics in my reporting, and have a strong interest in issues related to the arts, social justice, and education.
